You've probably heard this verse quoted as "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," and you may have wondered how it could possibly be true. Especially when you tried to fly like a bird by flapping your arms up and down and— surprisingly— it didn't work!
 
So can you really do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you?
 
No. You can't.

The incorrect rendering of this verse can be particularly harmful when used as a manipulation tactic in religious families and organizations, as an excuse for perfectionistic authority to over-work and exasperate their lessers, so I hope that knowing the more accurate rendering is a refreshing reminder for anyone who has been through that!
 
You need not strive to be any stronger, because you are ALREADY strong in all things because of the One who strengthens you! If you have not hit a hard time in life yet, you've got one coming. But you can look FORWARD to it, because your Savior will strengthen you through it. He will be right in it WITH you, and you'll come out on the other side as His masterpiece!
