How Logo-Brand Design Works
How the brainstorming stage works:
The first thing you need for a logo is a really good idea, because there are a lot of logos out there and yours needs to stand out. If you're a little short in the idea department, or you have an idea but it needs refining, that's where I come in. I currently offer free brainstorming where, after receiving your initial input, I come up with unique brand name / logo ideas that fit your persona, or just logo ideas if you already have a brand name. (Usually 20-30 ideas.) These brainstorming ideas are merely starting points to boost your imagination. I then present those ideas to you in a Google document with an easy-to-read format. You can see an example of the document below from a past contract with a videographer:
You can also take a closer look at the actual document itself by clicking here. To see how his project turned out, click here.
After I send you the google document, it's your job to either
1) choose a favorite style from the ideas,
2) choose your top two favorite style ideas,
3) or give me feedback about a new style idea.
Then I'll either
1) finalize your favorite idea,
2) combine the best parts of your two favorite ideas,
2) or expand on your new idea.
Once a single idea has been finalized via any of these three methods, I'll send it to you along with your quote.
If you don't need any help brainstorming, just let me know and we can skip that stage— and I'll need you to provide me with a clear outline of the logo design that you need.
How Your Quote Works:
Your quote will not only include my time spent designing and creating the logo, but also generating a "logo package" for you which will include all the file-types (.PNG, .JPG, .EPS, .PSD, etc.) and color variations that you need. Depending on how many color and background variations you want, this package can contain anywhere from 5 to 45 assets. Fot the most part, time spent in communication with you reguarding the logo design is free of charge. Upon request at at extra cost, I can also provide hyper-realistic mockups of your logo on various products, so let me know if that's something you will need.
Keep in mind that your quote is at most an educated guess, as there are an immense number of variables that can affect how long it takes to complete an image compositing project— not to mention changes/additions/revisions you choose to make along the way.
Make sure to check out my Policies page and FAQs page for more information.
How payment works:
For payment, I'll email you an invoice which will reflect the most recent quote I gave you. If you're curious about how it works and what to look for when I send it, you can find the instructions for finding and paying your invoice here.
When I send the invoice, it will come from dawson@fortheking.design. I'll notify you when I send it so make sure to check spam if you don't see it.
Time for some expectation setting.
A project like this is a back-and-forth sort of thing. I always follow my client's instructions as precisely as possible, but it's still uncommon for the first draft to be exactly what you envisioned. Maybe someday we will be able to neurally link our brains together and you can imprint your exact vision on my mind, but until then there will likely be several drafts.
One way to vastly speed up the process is to provide me with image references— visuals I can see to help convey your ideas. After all, they are worth a thousand words.
The timeline for completing a logo design project can vary significantly, ranging from a few hours to sometimes even 12 business days. This is primarily due to:
1) the complexity of your project,
2) any modifications you wish to make during the process,
3) and the speed at which you're able to provide feedback.
As large as this range is, it's the most precise timeline I can provide without knowing the details of your project and how promptly you will provide your valuable feedback.
And now moving on to what I need from you:
Please fill out this form (if you haven't already) so that I can add you to the system.
Wow. That was easy.
